The MSK doctor will take the time to make an inventory of your complaints and to perform an extensive physical examination. Your MSK doctor may supplement this with previously performed or additional examinations (such as X-rays or MRI scans). This results in a diagnosis and a treatment plan. The MSK doctor uses various techniques for his treatment. Within our practice, doctors have focused on treating mechanical disorders of posture and / or function by applying joint mobilizations, breaking the vicious circle of pain-dysfunction-reaction-more pain.
The basis of the treatment method with mobilization techniques, mainly applied by us, was laid in 1965 by the Amsterdam physician Mrs. M. Sickesz (1923-2015). She stated that many complaints of the musculoskeletal system are related to small, correctable deviations of the spine, pelvis and other joints. She then developed a method to systematically correct these deviations and thus treat the complaints.
In addition, in some cases, specific stabilization training is also used. Our practice does not use injection techniques or other types of pain treatment. If necessary, we can refer you to fellow MSK doctors who have specialized in the above treatments. In most cases, the treatment by an MSK doctor is sufficient and patients are free of complaints after just a few treatments! The number of consultations differs per patient and depends on the deviations.
